Information: Does the Truth Matter?

Twenty-two years ago, I received salvation through Jesus Christ. Within a few years, after a consistent desire to draw closer to God and understand His truth, He began to reveal certain things to me. One is that I was to preach the Gospel. Another, is that He developed in my heart a passion to know Him and understand His Truth and to share what I had gained. Being naive, I thought as I shared my new found knowledge...[READ MORE]

with others, they would respond as I did. But to often that was not the case. I must say that I am not pleased with this fact, but I must press on. Many who had heard my views have probably written me off as looney or just plain wrong, but I ask you to seriously consider the things that I say, as well as the position from which I come. I don't profess to know it all, nor do I claim to be without fault. I simply try explain my positions considering God's Word without my own personal bias, but with a reasonable understanding of the constitution, and a some common sense.

I have a strong passion to communicate this message as it is specifically to my Black Brothers and Sisters who claim Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. I realize that we may differ on politics, but some issues are moral, and these issues are now in the political arena. I believe God's position is that moral issues trump everything. Read (Romans 1:18-32) and if you're honest with yourself, you will agree.

The truth of the matter is most blacks live their lives conservatively, but they continuously vote for people who violate the very principles that they claim to hold dear. This is often done out of ignorance. Sometimes, even when blacks are presented with certain undeniable facts, the information is either ignored or rejected. We can no longer afford to do this! It has cost us tremendously throughout the years, spiritually as well as literally, and if we don't begin to make a radical change quickly, things will get progressively worse.

The city of New York recently reported that the abortion rate in N.Y. among Black Americans is 61%. That's 61 of every 100 pregnancies of black women end in abortion. Nationally, that rate is 35%, even though blacks account for 13% of the total population. Science has shown us that life begins at conception. Jer.1:5 says that God "knew us before we were formed in the womb." Abortion is defined as the termination of a pregnancy. Termination is defined as bringing something to an end. Statistically, more blacks die from abortion annually than all other crimes and diseases that exists today combined.

Unjustifiably ending innocent life, (which is what abortion is), is defined as murder. The practice of homosexuality is defined by God as an abomination. Leviticus 18:22 def. (a vile, shameful, detestable act); this is God's view. Unfortunately, most black democrat politicians are on the wrong side of these issues. No matter how we try to ignore or justify it, God said it is wrong. If we say we trust God for life and eternity, how do WE selectively decide what sin is okay and what isn't. As a nation we already pay a huge price, but the black community pays an even heavier price. Blacks have a higher Aids/HIV rate and because we've ignored certain absolute truths of the Bible, we now have a 70% out of wedlock birth rate. That is 7 out of every 10 babies born in the black community are born to unwed mothers. If we're honest, we have to admit that this has reached epidemic proportions. At this rate, the majority of black families today will not have a lineage or a legacy.

President Obama said that his administration would no longer argue in court to defend "DOMA" the Defense Of Marriage Act. "DOMA" was passed in 1996 by President Clinton and protects states from being forced to recognize a same sex union done in a state that has legalized same-sex marriage. President Obama has said that he believes in traditional marriage, but many of his policies, only weaken the institution of marriage. Normally, most black people would call someone who says one thing and does the opposite a hypocrite. Unfortunately, if the politician is black and/or a democrat, Blacks tend to make excuses rather than hold that politician accountable. Martin Luther King's challenge to America was that WE be judged by the content of OUR character, and not the color of OUR skin, yet so often Black Americans do the very thing that we argued so strongly against during the civil rights struggle, less than 50 years ago.

I've also witnessed this double minded view in regards to the preacher. What the preacher says, or what the preacher does, for many of them, there is no excuse. But we can only blame ourselves if we choose to sit under False Prophets, Pulpit Pimps and those who don't take the job of Shepherd seriously. The choice of a church to attend is not about a social club, tradition, or obligation to parents. The choice should be made by carefully considering the leadership that is in place and how much Reverence that "Man of God" has for the Truths of Gods' Word.

We who claim to be Christians have a responsibility to know God and KNOW truth for ourselves through prayer and personal Bible study." Study to show yourself approved, a workman need not be ashamed, RIGHTLY dividing the word of truth." (1 Tim. 2:15) The bible calls those who follow Christ to a higher calling. Often, that is not comfortable, nor is it easy. But the question we must always ask ourselves first, with every decision that we make is, What is God's position on this issue? Will He be pleased with my decision?

God's position on our life decisions should always be our first consideration. Daniel prayed when the king said don't. He was thrown in the lions' den. The 3 Hebrew boys refused to bow to the king when he told them to Bow or be killed. They were thrown in the fire. Peter preached when he was told not to. He was thrown in jail and eventually crucified for preaching the Gospel. These examples are given in order for us to know how important it is for us to LIVE OUR FAITH even when it's not comfortable. I say things that you may find unsettling, but the question you should really be asking is, am I telling the truth? As you ponder that, also consider what you will say to the Lord on Judgement Day, when He asks "Why did you knowingly vote to strengthen the hand of the wicked"? We are responsible for what we know. If the facts that I give you upsets you, ask yourself why, and please, look in the mirror when you do it. After all, I'm only the messenger.

I will not tell you who to vote for, but if you love God, or just fear Him, and you love black people as much as you say you do, you must begin to hold your elected officials accountable. You can do this in a number of ways, and the internet is a great tool. Presently I am working with some Christian Black Men in developing an organization designed to inform Blacks of the issues and give them the tools necessary to make informed voting decisions. We will track the voting records of elected officials, and offer ways to contact them. If, you want to be informed or assist in informing others, please join with us as an active or supporting member of Game Chaingers.

Yours in Christ,

Eugene Ralph
