A “Dreamer” brought into the country illegally when he was a year old supports President Donald Trump’s immigration reform plan and criticized Democrats for using illegal aliens as pawns.
“Well, let me begin by first thanking Donald Trump for his leadership, his compassion, and also the courage to take on this issue,” Hilario Yanez said on Fox News. “At the end of the day, here’s a guy who wants to provide a pathway to citizenship for myself and really make a difference in my life.”
Many Trump voters oppose a pathway to citizenship even for illegal aliens brought to the country as minors. Yanez said he supports border security so this kind of thing doesn’t happen again.
“And if a wall is necessary to add an extra layer for border patrol to do their job in a safe and responsible manner, then I think it’s necessary to fund it.”
Yanez called the diversity lottery outdated. The country should focus on immigrants with skills who can “contribute to the American economy.”
Wow. All of this is common sense, but to hear someone who could be deported say this — to focus on something outside himself and for the good of all Americans — is refreshing.
Imagine the insulting names liberals have for him. Yanez said the Democrats have no clear message on the “Dreamer” problem and have used them as pawns. They shouldn’t have shut down the government over DACA, he said.
Why didn’t Democrats do something about “Dreamers” back in 2008 when they had the power?
